*N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC) is a derivative of the dietary amino acid l-cysteine. It is a powerful free radical scavenger and thus supports the body’s natural defense system. NAC 600 provides cysteine, the major precursor in the biosynthesis of glutathione (GSH). GSH is the principle defense within the body against reactive oxygen species (ROS) and is also responsible for the detoxification of drugs, metabolites and other compounds. NAC 600 also has the ability to chelate heavy metals.*
